WuBlockchain Weekly: Tether Invests $500 Million in Mining, Bithumb is Exploring an IPO, Rapid Decline in US Inflation Data and Top10 News

Image
1. US Inflation Data a. US October Unadjusted CPI Year-on-Year Rate at 3.2% link In October, the U.S. seasonally adjusted CPI had an annual rate of 3.2%, slightly below the expected 3.3%, and down from the previous value of 3.7%. The core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, had an annual rate of 4% in October, in line with expectations and unchanged from the previous month’s value of 4.1%. According to Ian Lyngen, an analyst at the Bank of Montreal in Canada, this CPI report is good news for the Federal Reserve. It demonstrates that monetary policy remains effective, and its impact on the real economy is lagging. This rules out the possibility of a rate hike in December and strengthens the view that the Fed’s last rate hike in this cycle was in July of this year. The focus will now shift to how long the Fed will try to delay any rate cuts. The CME data shows that the probability of the Fed maintaining interest rates in the current range of 5.25% to 5.5% in December has...

Analysis of Uniswap Labs charging Swap Fee and what will be done in the future

Image
Author: Haotian Original link:  https://twitter.com/tmel0211/status/1714142033919824297?s=19 1) Uniswap’s “fees” are not for profit, but for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Uniswap maintains a frontend app and develops a mobile app, which inherently involves a centralized operating approach. This inevitably incurs significant operational service costs, especially when expanding and promoting the Uniswap Wallet, which is essentially a centralized operation. Costs associated with development, operations, channel marketing, regulatory compliance, and security risk maintenance all add up. Implementing additional fees can effectively offset operational costs and support the rapid expansion of Uniswap’s product matrix. If it was just about profit, modifying the backend protocol’s code logic would seem more effective and profitable, wouldn’t it? 2) Uniswap protocol and Uniswap labs are two different entities. Uniswap aims to communicate to the broader Uni community through this hig...

How do DeFi protocols adopt real-world assets ("RWA") - An overview of MakerDAO's RWA layouts

Image
TLDR In the RWA sector, the first explosion is from fixed-income products, driven by the treasury management demands of DAOs and Web3 companies. The top TVL rankings in the RWA sector are dominated by tokenized U.S. Treasury Bill projects. By incorporating RWA, DAOs can retain high liquidity for their assets while generating stable income with low correlation to on-chain activities, thus achieving better quality returns and risk diversification. The governance and operations of DAOs are not necessarily more efficient than traditional corporate structures. MakerDAO incurs high costs to purchase U.S. Treasury Bill ETFs through a complex trust structure, which is not feasible for most other DAOs and Web3 companies. In comparison, it is more efficient and feasible for DAOs to purchase tokenized RWAs on-chain through professional/compliant asset issuers. RWA coming into mainstream crypto Against the backdrop of the crypto winter and rising US interest rates, the new wave of DeFi innovation ...
